Most people do not realize that when you receive a driver's license from the State of Texas, you are giving police officers your "implied" consent to take a sample of your breath and/or blood to test its alcohol concentration once you have been arrested and accused of DWI. It is important to realize that police officers will often use coercive language and tactics to convince a person unfamiliar with the legal system that they must provide a breath or blood specimen. This is simply not true. While there are legal ramifications for refusing to provide a breath and/or blood specimen, often times those consequences are less severe than they would have been if you had actually provided a breath specimen. |
