Charges of rape or sexual assault generate a lot of emotion (and sometimes media attention), but the real situation may be more shades of gray and not so black and white.

- The parties may have had, or may currently be in a relationship, muddying the waters.
- The "crime" may only be a crime because of the age of the two participants - they may not consider it a crime at all.
- The "evidence" the police say they have may not be as conclusive as they suggest.

Sexual Assault and Improper Relationships
Some people in positions of authority are subjected to greater public scrutiny and find themselves at greater risk of being accused of sexual assault or unlawful sexual contact. These include teachers, coaches, clergy members, recreation leaders and others who have contact with youth. We defend people facing misdemeanor charges for indecent exposure or felony charges for sexual assault or an unlawful sexual relationship with a minor.

Statutory Rape Charges in Texas
In Texas, if a person has sex with someone under the age of 17, they may be charged with statutory rape. An exception is made for couples in a relationship if there is no more than 3 years age difference.

Sexual Assault and Minors
When a child accuses someone of sexual assault, there is always a public outcry. But behind that outcry there is sometimes an alterior motive. It's important to identify if the adult who says the child told them of the sexual contact had their own reasons for bringing these accusations.

Often child sexual abuse cases rest solely on the child's testimony and this can be manipulated or coerced by other adults. We work with experienced child psychology experts and investigators.
